Finance Officer

Job Description

Outline of the position

The Finance Officer will play an integral role in the financial functions within Exchange House Ireland National Travellers Service, supporting the organisation’s best practice in financial governance. The role will require interaction across all Exchange House Ireland’s Services to assist in the financial and administration aspects of service provision and practices.  

Reporting to

• Finance Manager

Main duties

• Process invoices, receipts, and payments
• Prepare bank lodgements and monitor income/expenditure
• Support reconciliation of bank accounts, credit cards and petty cash
• Using online banking systems to process payments and transfers
• Support payroll & HR administration
• Assist with preparing pension returns
• Maintain accurate records and files in line with financial policies and procedures
• Assist with monthly management accounts and year-end preparation
• Assist with preparing regulatory financial reporting to funders
• Participate in internal and external audit activities
• Liaise with staff, suppliers, and stakeholders as required
• Undertake other finance and compliance related tasks as assigned by the Finance Manager

Other Duties

• Participate in organisational events, team meetings and individual supervision
• Any other duties as requested by the Finance Manager, CEO or Board of Directors

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

• At least 3 years’ experience in bookkeeping, finance administration or similar
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office software – especially Excel
• Good observational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to record clearly and accurately
• Ability to manage confidential information appropriately

Desirable

• Knowledge of financial/payroll systems and related compliance
• Experience in the charity or voluntary sector
• Familiarity with charity governance and financial reporting requirements

Terms and Conditions

Based in

• Exchange House Ireland’s offices on Great Strand Street, Dublin 1, D01 WC97.

Hours of work

• 17 - 21 hours net per week
• Some flexibility may be required on occasion in relation to working hours.
• Opportunity for hybrid working at manager’s discretion.
• Annual leave: calculated pro rata (based on 26 days)
• Probation period: 6 months.

Salary:

• Permanent contract
• The salary will be as per the HSE’s Clerical Admin Grade V scale [€51,718 to €61,866] pro rata commensurate with qualifications and experience.
