EU Project 'Moving On' - 2nd Transnational Partner Meeting in Barcelona Spain

Kevin Burn and Simon Finnegan visited Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain for the second Transnational Partner meeting of the Moving On project.

Hosted by FAGIC, the Federation of Roma Associations in Catalonia, the partners settled in to two days of reviewing, preparing and developing all things Moving On!

There are five areas of focus for the project, known as 'Workpackages'. These Workpackages set out the work and outputs (deliverables) of the project. The 5 Workpackages are:

WP1 - Project Management and Coordination: the overall management of the project, coordinating the project and partners, point of contact for the EU, reporting activity, managing the project budget. This Workpackage is lead by GEA Social Cooperative, Italy (they are the overall Lead Partner)

WP2 - Analysis of current status and specific barriers for Roma, Sinti and Travellers (RST) in Sport: the research part of the project. ERRC (based in Brussels), the Workpackage lead, will produce a research report looking at our focus topic across the EU and the home countries of the partners.

WP3 - Addressing the Local level: cooperation among local authorities and inclusive sport events: here the partners connect with local sports bodies, local government and local Traveller communities and groups to meet and discuss the issues learned from the Research, as well as hosting actual sports events! FAGIC, Spain is the lead partner of this package.

WP4 - National Level: Challenging the current status of Roma and Travellers inclusion in sportALDA (a pan-EU body) leads this Workpackage, which focuses on presenting the project's findings and experiences to descision makers at a national level, such as sports governing bodies, relevant government departments and ministers

WP5 - Communication and Dissemination: This Workpackage focuses on promoting the work of the project along with putting practices in place for the project's objectives to continue after the two years of the project ends. FARE (a pan-EU body) is the lead partner here

At our meeting, we reviewed the status of all Workpackages, with a special focus on WP2 and WP3. It was a very successful meeting and we all left with a great sense of hope and purpose for the project ahead
