Kevin Burn and Simon Finnegan represented Exchange House Ireland at the first Moving On transnational partner meeting in Prague, Czechia on 7th and 8th March 2023.
The meeting, hosted by our partner INEX, looked the proposed activity for the project, as set out in the application to the EU.
First on the agenda was the project's research. The research would look at the current status of access to sport for Travellers, Roma and Sinti (RST), both EU wide and in each of the partner's local countries. Furthermore the research would seek interviews with national and local sports bodies across the four main countries (Italy, Spain, Czechia and Ireland) to determine their engagement and responses to RST involvement in sport. The research will also interview individual RST people to discover their own personal experiences in sports. This research is being lead by our partner European Roma Right Centre (ERRC), based in Brussels and they hope to be launch the report by the end of 2023.
Kevin and Simon found the meeting to be very productive and returned excited about the direction of the project and the possible positve impacts for the Traveller community in Ireland from the results of the project.
